Job Description:Functions as primary contact between outside vendor equipment service providers and the hospital system, overseeing the repair and maintenance requirements for the Respiratory Care Department. Develops, directs, documents, organizes and manages the overall operations and distribution of health system resources (staffing, budgets, and outside vendor contracts) as required in order to maximize equipment uptime while reducing maintenance related costs. Performs hands on repair and maintenance (preventive and corrective) on selected equipment, systems and devices for respiratory, pulmonary and sleep related technologies. Effectively works within a peer group reporting to the Director of Respiratory Care to coordinate Respiratory Clinical services during day/night shifts and to provide a safe environment for patients, visitors, and other health care personnel. Assists in meeting department fiscal and operational goals and objectives.

Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma. Ten or more years experience directly servicing a wide range of clinical equipment and related systems. Vendor and/or model specific service training certificates on five or more types of medical equipment or related technical systems. Must demonstrate a working knowledge of both clinical applications as well as equipment service procedures for a wide range of equipment modalities, such as diagnostic service software applications on general, as well as specialty clinical equipment, and computer supported networks and systems. Device knowledge should include performance related technical standards, quality assurance, preventive maintenance testing and operational proce-dures. Must be aware and have experience with various source suppliers of technical parts, supplies, test equipment and sub-assemblies commonly used in the repair and maintenance of commercially available patient care equipment. Must be able to function independently and competently. Must present a professional relationship with co-workers, internal or external customers, outside vendors and medical staff. Must be knowledgeable on all applicable equipment management standards and regulations, such as JCAHO, FDA, AAMI and various state regulations and guidelines related to use of medical equipment. Must be knowledgeable and experienced in working with office automation tools such as MS-Word, Excel; Access and work order inventory tracking packages. Must demonstrate ability, to analyze equipment service maintenance data and summarize the information into written report format.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors of Science degree or equivalent training and experience in a medical equipment maintenance (or management) related field.
